The Start of Momentum and a Bit About Our Impeccable Quality Production
There’s a funky pizza place here in Friday Harbor called My Cousin Vinny’s Pizza and Tanning. One day, we ordered a pizza…
(squiggley dream sequence lines, funky music turns to coolness)
….As we ate and juggled kids, island Marathon Runner Clark walked up. Clark carries an awesomely cool leather satchel. He told us all about his Saddleback Leather bag, how they’re for adventurous people committed to quality. It embodies Fine Design and Leather Goodness.
That night we sent SBL a quick email, like: “Would you consider producing our bags? Your product is over the top, thanks from Friday Harbor.” A few days later Jonathan, the brother of SBL’s el Presidente, called and we talked for over an hour, which was incredible but honestly I thought “Why is this important guy talking to me for so long?” as I unpacked our Huge Vision for Momentum. A few days later owner-dude Dave called and we talked ANOTHER hour – longer, actually. He taught us super-valuable stuff about growing a company on-line, and how he’s able to support charitable causes. So naturally we Googled them and they totally give a LOT. A LOT LOT LOT. LOT-TEY LOT-WELL. Got our attention, woot.
We unpacked our own give-back-dream, and asked if he would consider producing Momentum bags, and his response was exactly this: “Yes, but it’s important that you understand: We only associate with companies committed to products of superior quality.” Which works for us (obviously).
Today, we have a sweet attachment to their designers and admins, some of the most stellar people with whom we’ve ever had the privilege to work. We’ve been through a lot, actually, growing our capabilities and trying to bless as we go. We Skype the details, they are masterful. Here’s a great pic of the owners of our factory in Leon, Mexico, and the staff. They all BREATHE leather (and service).
